From the outside, a green home designed by Alvarez New Concepts may not appear much different than any other home in our extensive portfolio of work, but looks can be deceiving. Almost all of the materials and techniques used in the construction of our energy efficient homes are designed to reduce waste and promote sustainability. Living in a smart home allows homeowners to be environmentally conscious, while also receiving a more comfortable living environment through the use of state of the art, smart technology.

The Concept Home
The Concept Home, which can be found in historic Hyde Park Village, was built using green home building standards set forth by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the Fortified for Safer Living (FFSL), and earned the highly sought after Energy Star designation. From the use of Pella Low-E impact resistant, insulated glass windows to an HVAC system that adjusts to outside temperatures in order to maintain peak efficiency, almost all of the smart features found in The Concept Home serve two primary purposes, reducing the use of energy and protecting the home from outside environmental factors.

The Hyer
The Hyer, a Key West style home located in Pass-A-Grille on St. Petersburg Beach, was also built to the Florida Green Building Coalition Standards and earned the Energy Star designation for the green technology used in its construction. Some key green features of the home include LED lighting, which produces less heat and has a 50,000-hour lifespan, equating to up to 20 years without replacing the bulbs, an air filter that captures and kills airborne bacteria and pathogens, viruses, and mold, and tankless gas water heaters.

The Baystone
The Baystone was a home renovation project in the highly prestigious Avila community. While updating the exterior and landscaping to adhere to a European style of design, the interior utilized green-home technology to make the home more energy efficient. From floor to ceiling window screens used to deflect heat from the outside to LED lighting throughout the home that can be powered from a smartphone or tablet device, all of the upgrades were done to keep energy use to a minimum.
